PhD Student in Gabby Nunez-Mir's MEC Lab at UIC
Research Interests
- I am studying the relationship between monarch butterfly nectar preferences and temporal shifts in native plant versus non-native floral availability in the Midwest.
- In collaboration with the UIC Heritage Garden I am also studying the milkweed-mediated interactions between monarchs and aphids.
Community
On top of research, I want to assist in the inclusion of underrepresented communities in ecological science by curating encouraging introductions to research that allow students to fit science into their own identity.
As a UIC Heritage Garden alum, I've had the honor of collaborating with the Rafael Cintrón Ortiz Latino Cultural Center to highlight science as an element of cultural identity for the CIM²AS undergraduate research internship curriculum and educate UIC Heritage Garden summer interns on monarch butterfly conservation.
